From the right viewpoints in Požarevac, you can see the top of the Star above the park's tree line. Its scale, even far away on the horizon, draws you into the park and up one of the winding paths to the base of the monument for a closer look. In contrast to many spomeniks from former Yugoslavia, this one is not completely made of concrete, a trend I was starting to notice while visitng Serbia's spomeniks.

Standing near or under the Star reveals its true scale, allowing a group of people to easily walk between each of its five points. Each of the star's spokes contains either two or three segments, always connecting to a different of the 5 bases from which it originates.

From a viewpoint directly beneath the Star, you can see the outline of another star (which I unfortunately failed to capture on camera). Stars within stars, fitting for a shape used by the Red Army, who liberated this town, and the Republic of Yugoslavia's communist government, which built this memorial.
